Our first weekend was a success!  Here are photos of some of our fans!

Phil Koch (Hector) had his son and daughter along with wife Anne in the audience.  Anne should know this show by heart - she's a frequent audience member!

Jay Smith (Dillard) was all smiles Sunday afternoon when his Mom and Dad were in the audience.
They loved the show!

and the matinee also brought out MaryAnn's (Annie)
daughter Anne and granddaughter Jordan as well
as nephew Brian and fun friend Rosie.

Dan Evans had precious children Emma and Will on hand for Friday night's show. . . .

and Justin Attkisson (the Doctor) with fiancee Megan Mabry (Stage Manager) were happy to pose with Justin's Dad who was in the audience.

Scott Stevens, Phil Koch (Hector) and Joe Nierle (OSCT Artistic Director) were a happy group on Opening Night

and just had to end with this photo of MaryAnn (Annie) and Phil (Hector) showing off their favorite 'corn squeezin's' before going on stage Saturday!

Foxfire Opens Tonight!!!!!!!!!!!

Joe Nierle adds finishing touches to the "Foxfire" set.

Well, we've had our final dress rehearsal, and tonight's opening night!. . . . . I find this show more endearing every time we do it . . . .  it's so different now that we're doing runs instead of simply working on isolated scenes.   Such a  talented cast too. . . . Phil Koch is pitch-perfect as Hector and wait 'til you hear Jay Smith sing. . . . it's also great because we've all enjoyed each other working on this show.  Hats off to director Joe Nierle . . . the set design is also his vision, he built it and it's wonderful.  Lilly Nelson (in addition to being an actress  she's also a scenic artist!) worked some magic with a paintbrush, and voila!  there you have it - the Nations' homeplace - "Stony Lonesome"

We were thrilled about the photo and blurb in this morning's "Go Triad". . .hope to see you all after the show!

Foxfire Set to Open November 5th!

We had a great time taking some Foxfire promo pictures last week.  Phil Koch (in the role of Hector Nations), Jay Smith (as son Dillard Nations) and I (as Annie Nations) got all decked out in our best mountain attire and posed on the grounds of Greensboro's Natural Science Center.  Gorgeous day and beautiful setting!
Foxfire is such a lovely play - it's based on  journals written by Rabun County (Georgia) High School students in the 1960's that explored & depicted the daily lives of people living in that northern Georgia section of Applachia and the Blue Ridge.  The project has expanded and continues today - the Foxfire Fund even has a website and it's fascinating - check it out - http://www.foxfire.org/

There's some wonderful music in this play too. . . the melodies are lyrical - there are only a few and they're perfect.

Foxfire opens November 5th - it's going to be a wonderful show!

Foxfire Next on the OSCT Stage!

Rehearsals are in full swing for "Foxfire", the show that opens November 5th and runs through the 14th.  This is such a lovely play - it was written by Susan Cooper and Hume Cronyn and produced on Broadway with Cronyn and his wife, Jessica Tandy.  Its simple, yet haunting story of aging, family, and choices won three Tony awards and was later produced for television as a Hallmark Hall of Fame presentation.   We'll try to get some photos from rehearsal up on this blog in a day or so. ..  . bear with us!

Ruthless! Cast Members on Fox 8 Morning Show!

Gracey Falk, Mindy Hudson, and Lilly Nelson were fabulously "on their toes" this past Wednesday when they appeared with Cindy Farmer on the Fox 8 Morning Show to perform the show's signature number "Ruthless".

Following Cindy's interview with Joe Nierle, Open Space Artistic Director, the trio kicked up their heels and had a great time - hope the viewers did too!

Opening night is close upon us. . .can't wait -- this show is hilarious. . and really good!

Ruthless! Rehearsals in Full Swing!

What a terrific cast! Five of these stellar actresses are shown (Rosina came in later!) above with director Joe Nierle. Seated: Lily Nelson, Joe, Mindy Hudson; Standing: Connie Rogers, Jordan LeGaux, and Gracey Falk.
Ruthless! THE MUSICAL is a hilarious spoof of all those 'envy, greed, understudy-becomes-a-star, etc shows. . . . official descriptions list it as a cross between The Bad Seed and Gypsy!
Whatever its designation, the show is truly funny, the music is so clever, and this cast is terrific . . . plan now to see Ruthless!
The show opens on September 24th and runs through Oct 4th!
